Mysore is India’s centre for sandalwood, incense and silk production and this richness in resources has ensured 600 years of heritage and legacy. Our guided tour of Mysore explores its glittering royal heritage, the glorious Mysore Palace as well as Srirangapatna, a fascinating ruined city. The Indo-Saracenic Mysore Palace, or Maharaja’s Palace as it’s otherwise known, beautifully blends Hindu, Muslim, Rajput and European styles of architecture and is one of the finest stately palaces in South India. Srirangapatna, which will be explored later in the tour, was the capital of Haider Ali and his son Tipu Sultan. The area is strongly associated with the movement of independence against the British. If time permits your guide will also take you to the sacred Chamundi Hill, where a climb takes you past the infamous Nandi Bull before reaching spectacular views.
