Devi Garh sits majestically in the hills, 45 minutes from Udaipur.  It’s a glorious 18th century fort-palace, but unlike most other palaces in the region, Devi Garh marries its historic past with a full on glamorous and contemporary interior. It’s chic, gleaming and incredibly cool; the large spoiling suites are minimalist with incredible bathrooms and bold modern art.  There’s a huge marble pool, a spa, yoga on the roof, and a plethora of dining options. We loved the private dining in a room adorned with original frescos. All 39 suites are large, however the Garden Suites are the most affordable. The Palace Suites are big, sleek and are accessed through traditional courtyards. Most luxurious is the Devi Garh Suite, with its own sundeck and private Jacuzzi.  Some see Devi Garh’s location as a downside as it does take 45 minutes to drive into Udaipur, however we feel this is an impossibly romantic tranquil retreat that is a perfect and relaxing end to a dusty tour through Rajasthan.
