Nor-Khill translates as ‘house of jewels’, and although Elgin’s Nor-Khill Hotel isn’t a luxurious property it is full of wonderful and ornate old artefacts, folk art and furniture. The hotel sits in the heart of Gangtok town in the Himalayas, at an altitude of 5000ft above sea level. Despite being a little dated we feel its graceful, elegant and a very comfortable place to stay. The 25 rooms and suites are cosy and comfortable with lots of space and crisp white beds. Expect bright fabrics, wooden floors and decorative rugs. The hotel also boasts a spa and several restaurants and bars.
