In a city devoid of many hotels, the Royal Court offers an affordable option in the centre of town. It has the feeling of a business hotel and therefore lacks character, but what it does offer are clean rooms, friendly staff and a walk-able distance from Sri Meenakshi temple. There are 67 rooms in total; these are divided between Superior, Executive and Suites. The Executive Rooms, that we generally recommend, are clean and spacious with wooden floors, modern bathrooms and king-size beds. The restaurant downstairs serves a buffet lunch and dinner at very reasonable prices and there’s also a rooftop terrace with views of Sri Meenakshi and the city of Madurai. Royal Court is a simple property without any frills, so it’s best not to expect additional luxuries and flawless service. It is, however, perfect for those wanting to be in the centre of town without spending a fortune. It’s important to note that they don’t serve alcohol.
