Vismaya is a completely unique two-bedroom property that is perched on a peninsula, on the quiet side of Lake Vembanad in Kerala’s backwaters. It is arguably one of the most tasteful, elegant and private properties in Kerala, offering almost complete seclusion. Created from a traditional wooden house, that is thought to date back 400 years, Vismaya has been transported, restored and improved by its current owners to what is now a light and airy lake side haven. Central to the property is a beautiful courtyard home to a pond, traditional swinging seats, beautiful cushions and windows opening up to the wrap around veranda and garden. There are two separate bedrooms home to crisp white sheets and partially outdoor bathrooms. The large glassy pool sits in the garden and looks out to the water’s edge. Guests can dine here, inside the house or in the garden and there’s a fresh choice of food each day. For those wishing to be more active, Vismaya offers boat trips as well as bicycles; perfect ways to explore this peaceful area.
